Description

Start point of this section is just south of Bundoran at Drumfad. The section ends 43km later in Donegal town and has  a mix of coastal and inland elements with fantastic scenery along the way any many points of interest to visit along the way.

Bundoran is the most southerly town in Donegal, a tourist seaside resort where tourism has been at the heart of the local economy since the 18th century. Ballyshannon is the next town on the route northwards and home to rock singer and guitarist Rory Gallagher. The town hosts a Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival to honour him each year in early June.

Rossnowlagh is a seaside village about 8 kilometres north of Ballyshannon and 16 km southwest of Donegal Town. The area’s 3 km long beach is frequented by walkers, surfers, windsurfers, kite-surfers and swimmers and forms part of the route.
