Description
Departing Baltimore, we head Eastwards (for a little while) along the Ilen River towards Abbeystrewry Abbey near Skibbereen. From here it’s Westwards again in the direction of Lisheen – home of Olympic Oars people, the O’Donovans, the McCarthys and Caseys.
Onwards again towards the village of Ballydehob with its famous 12 Arch Railway Bridge, time now perhaps for a coffee and a chat with the locals.
Westwards we go to Schull with its sheltered fishing and yachting harbour. We then head on to Goleen, by way of the Altar scenic viewpoint in Toormore, and ideal spot for a selfie or two. From Toormore, it’s just a short ride to the village of Goleen – our overnight stop.
