Section 34 - Sligo

Coolaney - Sligo

Description

This is the shortest section on the route at only 27km. If you have read the description for Section 33 – Enniscrone to Coolaney, you will have seen that, with very limited accommodation options in Coolaney you may have to continue along Section 34 towards Sligo to find accommodation.

After leaving Coolaney this short section follows some very pleasant small country lanes, all on flat terrain, before reaching Collooney (yes it is confusing with two place names that look the same – but are slightly different!). After leaving Collooney you will follow a nice path through Union Wood before reaching the village of Ballysadare. You leave Ballysadare via a very small lane but then unfortunately there is a busy section of road for about 1km before joining quiet roads again going towards Sligo. The way into Sligo is via public park, reached via a short steep descent. This pleasant section of the route runs along the Garvogue River on a path into Sligo.
