Description
Leaving Bantry we ride towards Ballylickey and Glengarriff with stunning views of Bantry Bay and the Atlantic Ocean beyond to our left. In Glengarriff if time permits a trip to the Italian Gardens on Garnish Island is most rewarding.
Leaving Glengarriff we are now riding on the Beara Peninusula (the third of SW Ireland’s Peninsulas), heading towards Casletownbere. Along the way, we come across the village of Adrigole, gateway to the renowned Healy Pass a zig-zag mountain pass which many Irish and International cycling events have used as a route for their Special Stages.
Having arrived in Castletownbere there are several opportunities to have a quayside coffee/lunch break while watching the fishermen go about their work of loading and unloading their oceangoing trawlers.
