Traught Beach

Traught Beach

Located in the sheltered Galway Bay, this gently sloping sandy beach is an ideal spot for families. The beach is located in a rural agricultural landscape of small fields and hedgerows. There is a lifeguard service during the summer months which means Traught beach is particularly safe for bathing. There is a toilet adjacent to the beach and picnic tables are provided.

Traught beach lies within the Galway Bay Complex a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The variety and diversity of habitats present here are of great conservation value. It is an area particularly popular with birdwatchers who come here for the wildfowl.
